About
Orphaned before her 2nd birthday, Brenda Miller is an eight-year-old, happy-go-lucky little girl with special needs. Her inability to speak brings challenges of its own, yet her warm heart and zest for life spurs her courage in the face of adversity. Being raised by her aunt, Amanda Miller, her life is comfortable, but something is missing.
Doug Carter learned at a young age to keep people at a distance. With his family moving often, he’s never in one place long enough to risk forming friendships. Yet, after being assigned an after-school project with Amanda, he might possibly find himself struggling to keep her at bay.
Brenda takes an instant liking to Doug, and quickly realizes exactly what she’s been needing—a daddy. She knows in her heart that Doug is the one for her as she pulls Amanda in to help win him over, once and for all. But, when the setback of a congenital heart defect almost kills her, it threatens to unravel the family she’s trying so desperately to create. Will Brenda finally get the time-honored home she’s desired for so long? Or will the challenges of teen love and a special needs child prove too much?
Each of us have a song—a compilation of poetry, stories, and tales—narrated by our life. Some are epic adventures, while others are marked simply by their existence. Brenda’s Song is a beautiful journey of love, hope, and never giving up that reminds us that sometimes the best laid stories are those yet written.
