About

Repentance, forgiveness, and reconciliation – three words that are not familiar to those trapped in the cult of social status. At 16 years old, Amanda Talmage was a beautiful, rich, spoiled brat, status worshiping, mean girl – i.e. – a Starling. Amanda was miserable, and felt hopelessly trapped in her life of status.

18 year old Dick Ryndon, Amanda’s ultra-wealthy ex-boyfriend, only saw her as a trophy. He didn’t love her, but everyone told her that staying with him was best for her status. That is, right up until the moment he dropped her off in the country, and left her for dead.

Joshua Whitaker was a hard working, middle-class boy, with a warm heart and a strong conscience. At 16 years old, he had an after school job, and drove a pickup. He and his family routinely helped out their elderly neighbors. They were good Samaritans, living out the precept “love your neighbor.”

Joshua and Amanda have never liked each other. But when Amanda finds herself stuck in the Whitaker family’s home, she’s exposed to another way of living. Amanda is forced to face herself, her past, and an uncertain future.
